April 2018 Update: “Letter to My Children” Premiere in DC

Published by

Dear Friends of Jeronimo,

We have wonderful news to share with you. Next month, we will be premiering “Letter to My Children” at the 2018 DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival (May 11-13) in Washington, DC.

“Letter to My Children” is a documentary short that developed as an independent project from Jeronimo. As we were working on our feature-length documentary on Korean Cubans, we felt strongly that Jerónimo’s father, Lim Cheon Taek, deserved to have his story told in a short film of his own.

Lim Cheon Taek was one of the original 1033 Korean migrants who came to Mexico with his mother at age 2, moved to Cuba as a newly-wed sixteen years later and raised a family of nine children through poverty and discrimination as an ethnic minority. He lived through historical moments like the Cuban Revolution and the Korean War, both from near and afar.

If you’re in DC, please join us at the “Letter to My Children” screening on Saturday, May 12 (2:00-4:00 pm, as part of Block 3: Documentaries).

Best, Joseph & Team Jeronimo
